Wright County Retired Teachers Attend Region 10 Meeting in Ozark
By Sharon Marler, Secretary/Recorder
On Oct. 19, the following retirees attended the Region 10 meeting: Karen Sinning, Wilma Hutsell, Jimmie and Sharon Marler. The theme was “Carrying the Flame.”
It was a very informative meeting. We had a speaker and breakfast provided from the Education Community Credit Union- Stacy Lipskoch. Other speakers: Chamber of Commerce director, Dori Grinder; MRTF Board President, Walt Cochran; Barbara Self, Vice President of Region 10; Committee reports from Karen Miller, Ruby Vincent, Sue Groves, Mary Blance, and Stella Sharp; MRTA President-Mark Hargens; and MRTA Executive Director-Jim Kreider.
Barbara Self recognized Wilma Hutsell as the Distinguished Retiree from Wright Co. and awarded her with a plaque.
All teachers who had passed away were announced and a bell sounded in memory of their dedication: Wright Co. had Mary Kathyrn Nichols and Sherrell DeBusk who had passed away.
Jim Kreider reminded everyone to pay their $35 dues. Since the building is paid for in Jefferson City, the Mo. Retired Teacher Foundation will be awarding 14 classroom grants of $500 each this year in December.
Following the meeting, everyone had a really good lunch provided by the Christian County organization and a cash donation from the Wright Co. organization. It was a fun meeting with great information, great food, door prizes, and a silent auction.
