Babies in Douglas County Need Your Help This Year

Beginning Oct. 1, the Douglas County Health Department will be sponsoring a donation drive for Newborns in Need, Inc. Southwest Missouri Chapter.

The SWMO chapter provides baby essentials such as sleepers, blankets, diapers and wipes to local babies whose families are experiencing a medical or financial crisis. The items provided by Newborns in Need are made available to local residents completely free of charge and are the result of donations received from local businesses, organizations and the community throughout the year.

With requests for assistance up by 45 percent from last year, the need for continued donations is vital to keep services available for families in our neighborhoods. You can help make a difference in the life of a child by dropping off a needed item at the Douglas County Health Department Oct. 1 through Oct. 31 at 603 NW 12th Ave. between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (closed 12:00-12:30 p.m. for lunch).

Items needed this year are infant clothing, blankets, diapers (all sizes), wipes, baby wash, baby shampoo, pacifiers, bottles, and diaper bags. All donations received will directly benefit local infants in need. For more information about Newborns in Need, Inc. contact Jerrie Mason at (417) 683-4174 or jerriem@dchd.org.
