The adversary has been judged, cast down, and is awaiting his initial sentence of being chained for a thousand years, so he can’t deceive the nations, but in the meanwhile he will use deception to steal, kill and destroy those who do not know that they have authority over him, or who do not know how to use the authority that they have in Christ Jesus. But we will learn to recognize and combat the adversary’s deception, and we will do it Jesus’ way, Halleluiah.
These next few weeks are going to be used to remind the body of believers of the victory that our Lord Jesus Christ has bought and paid for, and by the end of this teaching you will be renewed in your mind to the powerful weapon he has provided for us, which will enable each believer to not only walk in abundant life, but to walk in Christ’s victory. Praise the name of Jesus! We are the body of Christ, and Jesus is the head. When the body functions as the head desires, we have a church alive with the love of Christ and the power of His presence. When we misunderstand the desires of our head… well, it’s like part of us have fallen asleep, or the opposite, parts are having a muscle spasm. Our goal is to obey with accuracy, the desires of our Lord Jesus, the head of the body of believers.
If you are new to this column, welcome! We will all continue to grow and learn of our wonderful Lord Jesus and our Father God, with the guidance of our teacher, the powerful and mighty Holy Spirit, who is welcome here. The Bible says the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth, not just some, but all truth, and the Bible also says that Jesus is the truth, the way, and the life, halleluiah. When we follow Jesus we are following truth. Today is the day to decide to follow Jesus.
Colossians 2:9-10 reads, For in him [Christ] dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power…and verses 13 –15 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
As a believer, you are in Christ, you are complete (filled to the fullest) in Christ, you are forgiven, and Jesus is supreme over all principalities and powers. The principalities and powers mentioned above may be better understood by reviewing Daniel chapter 10, and realizing that Jesus has made a show of those demonic powers openly and has triumphed over them.
These scriptures must be pondered to understand the fullness of what they are saying. If the word in Colossians got you curious about who you are in Christ Jesus, we will dispel any doubt about who you are in our glorious savior Jesus, by reading where Father God has placed Christ Jesus right now, in Ephesians 1:21-23 Father God has placed Jesus, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
Did you notice how the Holy Spirit inspired our brother Paul? Just so there was no question where the Lord Jesus was in his authority, the Holy Spirit inspired Paul to say, “and every name that is named, not only in this world, but in the world to come”. Any name you can think of, Jesus is supreme. Even if it has not been thought of, or discovered yet, Christ Jesus reigns supreme forever, and you are part of his body.
Jesus talks of the coming of the Holy Spirit after he goes to sit at the Father’s right hand, saying in John 16: 8-11, “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged”.
In the book of John, chapter 12: 31-32, Jesus said, “Now is the judgment of this world:now shall the prince of this world be cast out. 32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me”.
I encourage each reader to study these scriptures and think on them throughout the week, asking the teacher, the Holy Spirit, to reveal the magnitude of what they mean, and we will continue next week. Until then, God bless you and your loved ones.
