Firefighters from Ava Rural and the City of Ava fought a grass fire on AF Highway south of Ava Saturday, July 28, that burned from three to five acres. Due to the extremely dry conditions, firefighters said it would appear the fire was completely out, then blazes would erupt once again in the waist-high grass. Although most areas have received some rainfall during the past week, folks need to understand that the fire danger is still very high and any outside burning should be avoided.
