The High Calling

We are into our fourth week, researching the scriptures for the remedy of sickness and disease through God’s word, which speaks of Jesus in 1 Peter 2:24, saying, Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.  Jesus provides healing for all who will receive it, based on the stripes (the scourging) that he took for each of us.  As Jesus bore the scourging, as every stroke fell upon his body the Bible says it pleased the Father.

Isaiah Ch. 53:10 says,  Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief….

Isaiah 53:4 says,  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.  Jesus was smitten of God and afflicted.  Isaiah 53:5  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

God knew we couldn’t save ourselves by our own actions and he loves us so much that he was willing to become a man and take all of the punishment for sin upon himself.

Jesus willingly received  the punishment for you.  Thank you Lord Jesus.

If Jesus took our punishment for sin, and by his stripes we are healed, the question remains, where do sickness and disease come from?  As we continue it will become clear, that it is not a question of where it comes from, but who it comes from.  Colossians 2: 13-15 (NLT) says, You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away.  Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.  He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.

In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities.  He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.  The spiritual rulers and authorities that God shamed publicly were the devil and his demons- who are on the earth in spirit now, but have courage, because the Bible says Greater is he who is in you that he that is in the world (1John 4).

The Gospels and the epistles highlight who sickness and disease comes from, and we are told what to do about it.

The Lord Jesus speaks of a woman who was crippled by an evil spirit whom he healed in Luke chapter 13, saying, And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

Satan was the source of this woman’s paralysis.  Satan had bound her.

Look how the Apostle Peter describes the Lord Jesus in Acts chapter 10, saying, How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Sickness and disease are oppression of the devil.

We will continue next time, and until then I encourage each reader to see with new understanding how they or a loved one are being oppressed by sickness or disease that comes from the devil.  Jesus has provided the solution, and we need not accept what the devil puts upon us.

Until next time, God bless you and your loved ones.
