Don't Miss

I failed to mention in last weeks column, just how much I appreciated my Mother’s Day present from my family. While our family was here from Georgia, they all pitched in and fixed my flower beds. I was at work when this all took place and I was really surprised when I returned home to find it all so beautiful. I appreciate all of you!

The southside of our county has lost a special friend in the passing of Bill John. Bill and his late wife, Betty, were longtime residents of the Fordland community and used to be frequent customers at the D & D Cafe. Bill loved Betty so much and took care of her as she fought many long battles with her health. Many of you readers may recall when he was sheriff of Webster County. My last visit with Bill was at a book signing in Marshfield. Our oldest grandson, Nicholas had written a book called “Our Neighbors” and Bill was one of the county residents featured in the book. Nicholas had each of those featured in the book come to the book signing at the Webster County Library, where they each signed their story in the book. We had a nice visit with Bill and he was so kind to bring me back home. I was sorry to miss his service as our family really appreciated his many years of friendship. I was glad to hear that current Webster County Sheriff, Roye Cole and former sheriff Ron Worsham were in attendance at his service. He would have really appreciated that.

Longtime Olga/Dogwood resident, Shirley (Copeland) Smith has asked that we continue to pray for her dear friend, Linda Carter. Linda has been in Barnes Hospital and is need of prayer. Linda is a special lady, who worked with our youngest daughter, Jeanette Evans for several years at Neale & Newman in Springfield. I trust that you readers will lift up her name to the Lord in your prayers.

Hope all of you Father’s had a terrific day on Sunday. We enjoyed the morning at church and then it was off to lunch at Sheila’s at Marshfield with daughter Jeanette, grandson Nicholas, Sarah and Reagan Inman and Butch Alcorn and his lovely daughter, Andrea from Springfield. She is the owner of Gracie’s Bridal. Junior really had a nice Father’s Day and he enjoyed the buffet of Sheila’s mouth watering food. We always run into so many people from this neighborhood when we eat there. We were surprised to see Dogwood resident, Randy Dugan there eating with family. We have known his family for many years and used to attend church with them at the Dogwood Church of the Nazarene.

We were sorry to learn of the passing of neighbor, Bonnie Palmer’s father. He was such a kind man and he lived to be 100. What history you could witness in that time frame. We lift them up in prayer.

Hope this report finds you all well and we always hope to see you out this way in the near future.
