Mt. Tabor Church

We began Sunday morning with singing and thanking God for His blessings, on this beautiful Memorial Day. We prayed for the many requests of our congregation, friends, neighbors and families, and asked special blessings on our military and those who gave their lives for our freedoms. The old saying “freedom isn’t free”, still stands true today. A great price was paid and continues to be paid that we can live in the greatest country there is.

Brother Ric Englehardt preached a message of remembrance, appropriate for the day, and our service was dismissed for the evening.

Brother Raymond Haden will be our speaker this coming Sunday, both services.

Next Sunday, June 10, will be our feet washing and communion service, in the morning worship hour.

Camp Piland began this Tuesday with Junior Camp, with Kiddie Camp to follow. Senior Camp is still in the planning stage, but will be announced soon. We appreciate everyone who helps make the camps successful.

Ronnie and Pat Lansdown joined many more of the Lansdown family at the home of Kenneth and Carla Aborn, for their usual get together, Sunday. Doug and Kristie Lansdown and family attended and later came by Ronnie and Pat’s  to visit, before returning to their West Plains home.

Paul Cox came on Monday and drove his mother, Myrl, around to several cemeteries, including Mt. Tabor. They   paid a visit to Freeda Richards while in the area and later stopped by to visit at Ronnie and Pat’s, also.

Bessie Hall’s visitors over the holiday weekend were J.C.and Vicky, Jewell and Tom Elliott, (who brought pizza for lunch, Sunday), Tim Hall, Kathy Barnes, Hellen Blakey, Kim Clements and Kay Hutchison. Bessie and Kim drove through Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Tuesday afternoon.

J.C. and Vicky, Tom and Jewell were in the east end of the county, visiting cemeteries, and stopped by to visit Wes and Kim Smith.

Tom and Jewell Elliott attended a family gathering south of Seymour, Monday, in the home of Nadine and Jimmy Crisp. Brothers attending were Tom and Jewell, Albert and Doris, sisters, Corrine and Dale, Kaye and Fred, and many, many, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They enjoyed visiting, barbeque and a fun time was had by all.

Jeff and Kristy Tackett stopped by for lunch with Harold and Kay Hutchison, Sunday afternoon. They were returning from a trip to Mtn. Home, Saturday. While at the Hutchisons, Mike and Deana Tackett, Nebraska, along with her mother, Geneva Stewart, and Norman and Diana Sherman, stopped by to visit with the Tacketts.

Larry Stewart visited Harold and Kay Hutchison, Saturday. Our sympathy to their family in the passing of Brother Paul Welch, he will be greatly missed.

Mae Cox had phone visits with most of her family who live away on the holiday. Tom and Donna Nichols and grandchildren from Columbia came by to visit.
