Baccalaureate This Sunday Night For Ava High School Class of 2012
The baccalaureate service for the Ava High School class of 2012 will be held this Sunday evening, setting in motion the graduation process for 96 seniors.
Ava High School has announced the names of honor graduates for the class of 2012, including the Top Ten Percent.
The class is represented by co-valedictorians, Carmen Potts and Lacey Tucker. Salutatorian is Ashlyn Mitchell.
Other members of the Top Ten Percent of the class include Payton Lakey, Zach Leonard, Kandas Kutz, Alisha Womack, Seth Maples, Jessica Eggleston and Kevin Philpott.
Commencement will be held Saturday night, May 19, at the Ava High School football stadium beginning at 7 p.m. Other senior activities will take place this week, including the annual Honor Awards program on Friday morning, followed by the traditional Senior Assembly on Friday afternoon.
The last day of school for Ava students will be next Wednesday, May 16. It will be a half day of classes, with buses leaving at approximately 12:40 p.m.
The baccalaureate program Sunday evening is sponsored by the Ava Area Ministerial Alliance and will begin at 6 p.m. The program will be held in the Performing Arts Center on North Jefferson Street next to the high school.
The worship service will include special music by a senior choir directed by high school vocal music teacher Michelle Wolfskill, scripture reading and testimonies from senior class members, and the baccalaureate message by the Rev. Tom Maples, pastor of Ava 1st Southern Baptist Church.
