Ava FFA Chaper Attends State FFA Convention

On April 18-20, Ava FFA attended State FFA Convention in Columbia.
Members were busy at convention competing, watching sessions, and exploring the career show.
Members assisted with Courtesy Corps, which is a program designed to help visitors and members with locations and answer questions throughout convention.
Those volunteering for courtesy corps were Cody Bellman-Hart, Ivie Macy, Rebecca Neal, Colton Hall, Tailor Stofer, Ashton Davis, Ashley Lewis, and Ashtin Stillings.
James Elijah, Taylor McDonald, Victor Wood, and Kendra Schuster competed in the Livestock judging contest. They placed 18th overall, Group II Team and James was 6th High Individual in the entire contest, which was a Group I individual and makes him eligible for dual credit through Missouri State University.
James Elijah also interviewed for the Missouri Star in Placement Award and received his plaque on stage as an area winner. Receiving their State FFA Degrees were Abby Dean and James Elijah. Colton Hall was recognized forwinning Ag Processing Proficiency and James Elijah for winning Beef Production Placement Proficiency, which received a plaque on stage.
Rebecca Neal and Ashton Davis were delegates at State Convention voting on the National Constitution Amendment, new slate of State FFA Officers, and other business. Ashley Lewis performed during State Talent and sang “Bring Me Down” by Miranda Lambert while playing her guitar during the Friday night session, which is the most attended session.
After winning area, the chapter scrapbook created by Ashtin Stillings and Ashton Davis was displayed at State Convention and they each received a Group 1 medal for their effort.
Cody Bellman-Hart received the Chapter’s 19th place plaque for National Chapter Activities, which is also a Gold Emblem award and qualifies us for National Competition. There are 327 chapters statewide.
Cody Bellman-Hart and Victor Wood attended a special workshop about becoming Ag teachers and why it is important to have quality students become Ag teachers.
All members attending convention attended the career show and visited different booths set up by college, Ag businesses, fundraising companies, and the various Ag industry groups.
