Alzheimer’s is not inevitable. Many experts believe you can reduce the disease risk factors like obesity, diabetes, smoking, and low physical activity by just 25 percent. If you do one thing to keep your brain young, (1) exercise; (2) do a weight-training program; (3) challenge your brain by learning new things like sudoku or bridge; (4) do meditation, focusing attention on sensations, feelings and state of mind; (5) eat fish, vegetables, fruit, nuts and beans; (6) use herbs and spices like black pepper, cinnamon, oregano, basil, parsley, ginger and vanilla which are high in antioxidants; (7) approach life with clear intentions and goals; (8) stay near friends which provide emotional and mental stimulation; (9) follow your doctor’s orders regarding diet and exercise and take your medications on schedule; (10) and take a vitamin B12 every day.
There were not enough players to have the pinochle tournament. We’ll try again next month on the second Wednesday in May.
Until next week, have a good one!
