David Cary Lawrence, 54

David Cary Lawrence, 54, passed away March 20, 2012 in his home in Springfield, Mo.

He was born Jan. 24, 1958 in Kansas City, Kan. David was a 1976 graduate of J.C. Harmon High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1983 serving in the aircraft maintenance field. After his honorable discharge in 1987, he was a sign language interpreter serving the greater Kansas City deaf community. David moved to Springfield and was employed at North Star Battery until his death.

He is survived by his father and step-mother, Russell E. and Nancy Lawrence, Battlefield, Mo.; mother, Judith A. Lawrence, Kansas City; sisters, Janet Brown, Winchester, Ky., Annette Grimes, Bonner Springs, Kan., Lisa Cooper, Gladstone, Mo.; brothers, Kevin, Fred and Eddie Lawrence, Kansas City; five nieces; eight nephews; and five great-nieces who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Shelby and Claudia Lawrence, and Dorothea Smith; uncle, Cary Smith; and nephews, Brandon Lawrence and Craig Thomason.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 30, at 11:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. in Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, 2001 W. Walnut Lawn, Springfield, MO 65807. Burial will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations toward funeral expenses.
