The High Calling

Our God is an awesome God, who is worthy of all glory, honor and praise.  He created the stars, planets, moons, and comets.  He established the natural laws that allow us to live on this beautiful earth.  He made the law of gravity that holds us to the ground and keeps us from flying off, He established seasons to allow the cycle of growth and death and re-growth.  Our planet earth turns and is enlightened and warmed by the sun, then cooled and darkened during the night so we don’t burn up.  The rains fall, we drink.  The harvests come, we eat.  Everything we need is provided by our highly esteemed and loved, heavenly Father.  If you are a believer in Christ, God is your father, (isn’t that wonderful!) and, if you don’t believe in Christ, God wants you to turn your heart to himself through faith in His son, Jesus Christ.  Going through Jesus is the only way we can have a relationship with the wonderful God who continues to draw us to himself for our saving and His glory.  God is glorious and it is His will that everyone be saved into a living relationship by faith in Jesus Christ.

God loves you just as you are.  You don’t have to change to come to God, but when you do come, God loves you enough to not let you stay the mess you are, but will help you to grow from the inside out into the image of His dear son Jesus.  (We were all messes at one time).   The qualities that are in Jesus, God wants to be in you, and the Holy Spirit will encourage you to grow into dear children of God by following His example (Eph 5).   Jesus is the leader and captain of everything in the believer’s life if they will yield to him.  Some things are easily yielded to, but others, because of lifetime sinful habits or the company one keeps that continue to cause temptation to sin take more time to yield to the will of God.

The Bible says in Romans 6, Who you yield yourselves servants to obey (submit to), his servants you are to whom you obey; whether of sin unto death or obedience unto righteousness. Yield yourself to the Captainship of Jesus and learn of Him.

Jesus says in Matt 11, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek (gentle, mild) and lowly (humble) in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Imagine a million years or so from now, you can look over at the Lord and exclaim, “Lord, I was a mess! And look what you have done with me!” and the Lord responds, “Yes beloved, but I saw what you could become in Me, not what you were”.

Until next time, God bless you and your loved ones.
