Caney Church

February 1 – What a good way to start the month. We came together Wednesday evening to sing His praises and to study His wonderful word. Bro. Jim Lafferty opened service taking prayer requests. Bro. Bill Austin led in prayer. Jim read Psalm 37:1-11. We shouldn’t worry over the ones that do wrong and prosper, they will have to answer to God. Don’t worry, trust in God always. Peace, joy and rest were all offered in these verses. It’s up to us to receive it. We had a great discussion on how God will take care of us and the things He gives us that money can’t buy. What a blessing to study the word and learn together.

Sunday school opened with singing. Bro. Jack Essary welcomed everyone. Prayer requests and praise reports were taken. We have so many concerns for the lost. Unconcerned, sick, bereaved, military and our nation. Sis. Tracy Shipley led us in prayer. Jack read Luke 18:9-14 for our devotion.

After a good Sunday school lesson Sis. Tracy led the little ones in song. Testimonies were given by Jim Lafferty, Jeff Shipley, Vanessa Mills, Ethel Metcalf and Melba Austin.

Praise and Worship began with singing. Singing specials today were Ethel Metcalf and Melissa Harmon. Pastor Bill Austin spoke this Sunday morning. He brought his message from I Samuel 30:6-8. Encourage yourself in whatever you do. Know that with God’s help you can accomplish what you want to do. Encourage yourself in the Lord. Ask God what you should do, then do it.

Sunday evening service began with singing. Bro. Jeff Shipley welcomed everyone. Bro. Hi Lambeth led in prayer. Testimonies were given by Bill Austin and Jim Lafferty. Bro. Jack Essary was the speaker Sunday night. He brought his message from Romans 5:1-6. As we travel through this life if we allow Christ to lead us we will grow spiritually. He gives us love and peace so that we can face and overcome what comes. We also have the promise of eternal life when we accept Christ as our Saviour. We must have faith in Christ to overcome the world and gain Heaven. A beautiful word picture of what’s to come.

We are a God-fearing, Bible-believing, praying church. Come be with us. You are welcome.
