Ava Senior Center

Would you like to quit smoking, but just don’t think you can?  Here are some good reasons for quitting:  you will feel better with more energy, and your chances of getting sick this winter will go down; smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, and lung disease; and if that is not encouragement enough, and if you are down to a pack a day, you will save $1,518.40 per year.  Double it if you are two packs a day!  Could you use $3,000.00 for anything else?

Our menu for this week:  Monday, February 13—Cheeseburger, onion, lettuce, tomato, potato salad, cobbler.  Tuesday, February 14—Open face roast beef, carrots, salad, poke-n-pour cake.  Wednesday, February 15—Ham and beans, potatoes, spinach, cornbread, pears.  Thursday, February 16—Pork chop, dressing, cauliflower with cheese sauce, pudding.  Friday, February 17—Chili, crackers, peanut butter sandwich, carrot salad, ice cream.

Our activities include, but are not limited to:  OATS bus to Ava on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; Douglas County Health Department blood pressure clinic and driver’s exam on Thursday.

We appreciate Ms. Deghan’s middle school choir vocal soloists for entertaining us with their music on Wednesday. Some talented folks here!  She will be bringing her violinists on Wednesday, February 15, at 11:15, so come enjoy them and eat a meal with us for only $3.50.

Also, we appreciete Deputy Vernon Johnson, from the sheriff’s office, for sharing information on scams.

We appreciate the Eagles Lodge for their financial donation.  We appreciate Access Home Health for the Valentine candies.

If you wonder whether the center will be open during bad weather, just listen to KKOZ between 8:00 and 9:00 for the announcement.  Also, the OATS bus service, as a general rule, will be cancelled when school has been called off.

Until next week, have a good one!
