County Pulls All Funding For Extension Office In 2012 Budget

University of Missouri Douglas County Extension received news Tuesday that they will not be receiving any funding for the 2012 budget year from the Douglas County Commission.

According to the Missouri Revised Statutes, the minimum amount of funding the Extension service should receive is $10,000 based on assessed valuation, according to University Extension County Program Director Angie Fletcher.

The Douglas County Council will be meeting tonight (Thursday) at 7 p.m. in the Douglas County Courthouse to discuss the future of Extension in Douglas County.

This is an open meeting and citizens are welcome to attend. Signs will be posted on the north entrance indicating in which room the meeting will be held.
