Flu Shots Available in Ava

Oct 2, 2008

Flu Clinic Oct. 14 at Health Dept.
The Douglas County Health Department will be holding a walk-in flu shot clinic on Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 8 a.m. until supplies are exhausted.

Flu shots will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis to residents of Douglas County who are at least 18 years of age and are not pregnant. There is no charge for the shot, but donations are gratefully accepted. Please bring your Medicare or Medicaid cards with you.

At this clinic vouchers will also be issued for free cholesterol screening to be held on Tuesday Nov. 11, from 7 to 11 a.m. for any interested Douglas County residents who have never had a previous cholesterol screening.

Flu Clinic At Ava Senior Center
Maxim Health Systems, in cooperation with the local senior center, will provide a clinic on Oct. 8, by appointment to give flu and/or pneumonia shots. The program aims to increase the number of people who get vaccinated, a step determined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as the single most effective way to prevent flu.

Priority will be given to those 60 years of age or older and high risk individuals, such as those with chronic medical conditions. Please call 683-5712 for an appointment.
