Ava School’s ‘Family Fun Night’
Family Fun Night will be held this Friday, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., on the middle school/high school parking lot. There will be free hot dogs, chips, soda and cookies, as well as a long list of activities to participate in.
Drawings will be held for a number of prizes to be given away at halftime of Friday night’s football game between the Ava Bears and the Cabool Bulldogs.
Here's how the drawing works.
Pick up your punch card at the entrance by the superintendent's office. Visit three activity booths to have your card punched. Return your punched card to the punch card station to be entered for the drawing.
If your family plans to attend the Ava Bears varsity football game following Family Fun Night, use your punch card as your free family ticket to get into the game as a family. Your card will be collected at the gate and entered in the drawings.
Some of the items to be given away include a $25 gift certificate to the AHS greenhouse; choice of a laddered tree stand, covered mineral feeder or picnic table from the AHS Ag Department; $25 lunch room credit certificate; and Silver Dollar City tickets. You do not have to be present to win.
Some of the special events planned are: 4:30-4:45: Ava High School Pep Band performs; 5-5:15: AHS Chamber and Mixed Choir performs; 5:30-5:45: Sneak preview of the high school drama, "Little Women."
Other games and activities planned include hay bale hunting, balloons, bean bag toss, air brush tattoos, chess demonstrations, button making, create fun bookmarks, dunk booth, quiz bowl and cookie decorating.
There will be face painting, pioneer games, a popcorn stand, pencil toppers, make-a-maraca, ring toss, guess the pig's weight and other fun activities.
The football game kicks off at 7 p.m. and the band and flag corps will perform at halftime.
Also at the game on Friday night, Ava’s first football team of 1948 will be observing its 60th anniversary. Players and cheerleaders from the 1948 team will be introduced at halftime.
