Charges Pending In BB Gun Cases;
The Ava Police Department credits the alert reaction of Highway Patrol Sgt. Keith Jones, as well as information from the public, in identifying a suspect in a series of property damage incidents in which windows were shot with a BB gun.
Police Chief Larry Smith said a suspect has been picked up in regard to the activity in which several Ava businesses had windows broken, but the name is not being released pending filing of formal charges.
In the meantime, a vehicle stolen from the Ava High School Friday night was located around 1:20 a.m. Saturday by the Webster County Sheriff’s Department. Two subjects were taken into custody and charges are pending in that incident, as well.
No names are being released until charges are filed, but officers said the subjects were known to them, which resulted in quick resolution of the incident.
