Reunion of 1948 Ava Football
Ava’s first football team – the squad of 1948 – will have a reunion this fall at the Ava vs. Cabool football game on Oct. 3.
Special recognition will be given to those attending the 60th reunion, and the Ava High School Student Council will provide dinner for them at the north end of the football field prior to the game.
Those planning to attend are asked to contact Russell Hunt (417-683-3024) or Larry Silvey (417-683-5234).
Team members, team cheerleaders, and their families are invited to be special guests at the game that evening.
Team members were Coach Eugene Lewis, Russell Hunt, A.J. Hickman, Gofray Johnston, Bob Burris, Norman Jenkins, Robert Ellis, Leon Thompson, Royce Henson, Rex Singleton, John Frye, Calvin Sutherland, Robert Hunt, Souder Livingston, Leroy Riggs, Bert Salas, Doin Hicks, Paul Stamper, Melvin Deeds, C.W. Butram, Ronnie House, Johnny Massey, Jerry Rowe, Chuck Ousley, Eddie Parker, Johnny Parker, Duane Hamilton and Bob Crain.
“Football Pep Squad Leaders” for the team were Evelyn Pruitt, Wanda Lou Hunt, Mary Jane Singleton, Wanda Sallee, Joanna Wallen and Gaylene Cooper.
