Hoopcoming Candidates Named; Coronation at Jan. 22 Ballgame

Candidates for Hoopcoming 2016 have been selected, with the winners to be crowned during the basketball game on Friday, Jan. 22. The Ava High School student body has selected Hoopcoming candidates for 2016. Queen candidates are Sarah Lawson, Breanne Potter and Hunter Shelton. King candidates are Nate Bray, Jessie Slavens and Caleb Stillings.

Next week, Jan. 18-22, will be Hoopcoming Week at Ava High School with special theme days each day. Coronation will wrap up the event on Friday night, Jan. 22, at the Ava basketball game.

There will be no school on Monday. That would have been Pajama Day if school were in session.

Tuesday is Dynamic Duo Day with students to dress as characters such as Thing One & Thing Two, Batman & Robin, Woody & Jessie, Tarzan & Jane, etc.

Wednesday is “Once Upon A Time” day, and Thursday is Wizard of Oz Day. On that day, seniors will wear black, juniors wear white, sophomores wear purple and freshmen wear red.

Friday is the traditional Blue & Gold Day with everyone expected to wear their school colors.

There will be a Hoopcoming assembly on Friday afternoon, Jan. 22. Following the basketball game that night there will be a Hoopcoming dance.
