BOOKS-N-BITS From the Douglas County Public Library

We will be kicking off our special summer program series with a visit by Dr. Phillip Howerton, associate professor of English at Missouri State University on Thursday, May 22, at 7 p.m. with a program called “Bloodroot: Stories and Poems of Rural Missouri.”
Local history programs are usually very popular. Please plan to join us. Admission is free.
We are also preparing for a fun summer of children’s reading programs for children ages 3-18. This year’s theme is “Fizz Boom Read!”  Younger children will listen to stories at the library, enjoy games and crafts, and will be encouraged to read at home in order to receive prizes. The teens may pick up a reading packet with instructions for keeping a reading log which may be turned in to the library to receive prizes.
All programs are free, but registration is requested. Call the library at 417-683-5633 to sign up.
We will once again have a representative from Ozark Medical Center in West Plains at the library May 29, 12 noon to 5 p.m. If you have questions about the Affordable Care Act, or need help applying for health insurance, medical representative Dwayne Cook will be happy to help you.
