Local DAR Chapter Meets

The Carl Neiman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met on January 16, 2014, in the basement of the Ava General Baptist Church. The meeting was called to order by Regent Nina Carter at 7:08 pm. There were 7 members and 1 guest in attendance. Our meeting was opened with prayer by Regent Nina. The opening ritual was observed by all. The Pledge of Allegiance, the American’s Creed and the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution were recited. The minutes were read by Secretary Helen Hoogendoorn. Regent Nina read the President General’s Message. Nina also reported that she had completed the Master Questionnaire. Treasurer Helen Lamb was unable to attend the meeting, but gave her report to Nina.

Marilyn Alms gave a report on the veterans we adopted for Christmas. Our Chapter adopted Gary Miller and Bill Wall. Both gentlemen reside at Ava Place. Marilyn did a wonderful job with this project and we appreciate her for all of the time and effort she put into this project. We also appreciate Pro Design for all of their help.

Our next meeting will be February 12, 2014. Our program will be presented by Judge Elizabeth Bock. Our meeting was adjourned by our Regent and closed with prayer at 8:01 pm. We then enjoyed refreshments provided by Helen. Marilyn Alms then gave a wonderful program, along with a DVD, on the Douglas County Historical Society and Museum. The program was a delight to all that saw it.
