We had a packed sanctuary despite the cold rainy weather last Sunday. It was good to see everyone worshipping and singing songs of praise to our Lord. Bro. Oren reminded us of the many requests for prayers we need to keep in our minds this week. We know of several who are either facing surgery or recovering from surgery or illness. Pray for Lorene Maloney, Lester Thurman, Ruby Alcorn, Irma Evans, Ed Kent, Lucille Collins and Tom Johnson. These names are just a few of the many who ask for prayer and God knows each need and concern. Pray for His comfort and healing to all. We have many on the mission field; those who are protecting our freedoms in dangerous situations and continue to pray for each other.
Our scripture passage for God’s Word was from John 14:1-14. Jesus was telling his disciples that He would soon be going to the Father and would be preparing a place in His kingdom for them. He told them to believe and know God. We can apply that today so we must recognize who God is and believe that Jesus is His Son. Jesus is the one that took our place on the cross so our sins could be forgiven. Do you believe in Him? Do you believe His promise to us? He calls us to do great things for God. He has a purpose for every one of us. We must believe it. Stay in God’s Word; learn from it and apply it.
We are practicing for our Easter Cantata and we invite everyone to join us on Easter morning either at 8:30 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. Let’s fill every seat available so everyone can get a blessing from the songs and from the message of Jesus Christ being alive and we now have hope in a heavenly home! The evening Sunday service will be dismissed.
Palm Sunday is on March 24th and we will have the Clinkingbeard Baptism at the 10:45 service. Praise God for that double blessing. Also on that Sunday the 4th Sunday Singing will be from 2 to 4p.m. at Ava General Baptist Church. The evening service on March 24th will be dismissed but Choir practice will meet at 5 p.m. This will be our last chance to practice for Easter. On March 27th we will hold a special business meeting after Bible study in order to elect a new deacon and approve Presbytery reports.
Our church has the honor of hosting the Community Good Friday service at 7 p.m. This will be a chance for the entire church community to come together and worship Jesus Christ and honor the sacrifice he made on the cross for all. Please come and support that ministry. Let’s worship together and support our community.
During those days that we struggle in our walk with God, remember that He is always with us. He knows our shortcomings and our hearts. Stay in the Word and listen for His voice. Don’t give up because He is our Rock and He won’t fail us. Have a great week and we’ll see you Sunday. God Bless.
