Our menu this week includes: Monday, March 11—Cashew chicken, egg roll, rice, Oriental vegetables, cookie. Tuesday, March 12—Hot ham and cheese sandwich, broccoli soup, cake. Wednesday, March 13—Roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, roll, hot apples. Thursday, March 14—Frito pie, baked potato bar, corn, fruit crisp. Friday, March 15—Spaghetti and meatballs, green beans, garlic roll, cookie.
Our activities this week include: Monday—Tai chi senior exercise class 10:30. Tuesday—OATS bus to West Plains. Wednesday—OATS bus rural Ava to Ava, pinochle tournament 12:30. Thursday—Driver’s exam in the basement 9:30 to 3:30. Friday—OATS bus rural Ava to Ava, and Tai chi senior exercise class 10:30.
Oxford Health Care will provide a free Telemonitoring unit for vital signs, O2 saturation and weight measurements for seniors. You are welcome and invited to join us from 10:30 to 11:30.
The only word to describe our very first Monday night Jam Session is ‘phenomenal’. Wow! The musical talent with which God has blessed Douglas County citizens. There were more than 85 in attendance and the crowd stayed throughout all of it. Branson and Nashville have nothing on Ava.
Everyone said they would come back next week and one even suggested it might be broadcast live over KKOZ. We are not in competition with any other town nor any business in our town, but it was a great showing and we invite you to come this Monday night, at 6:00 pm. You will have a good time!
Our winners in the pitch tournament from March 5 were: Janell Mische (220), Jerry Huffman (217) and Sue Pool (215). We had six tables and played five games. Seven had a score of 200 or better and two men were in the top ten.
Birthday greetings go out this week to: Dessie Miller on March 12, Bonnie Coffey on March 14, Conley Welch on March 16, and Billy Taber and Gary Silvey on March 17.
We have sample ballots for you to look at for the upcoming April Municipal election. I believe the deadline to register to vote is already passed if you have not already registered.
