Garry Wayne Lafferty, aka “Fishin’s Finest”, of Galena, Mo., was born Sept. 13, 1951, and went fishing with our Lord on Feb. 24, 2013.
Garry’s lifelong love was fishing. You could call him to go fishing and he didn’t care what you were fishing for whether it be for white bass or “pumpkin seeds”, he would be there.
Garry was sponsored for years in fishing tournaments by Bass Pro Shop where once he won the “Tournament of Champions” on Grand Lake in Oklahoma.
Simply put, Garry loved to fish.
Garry is preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bob” Lafferty, and his sister, Kay Huffaker.
He is survived by his wife, Anne, of Galena; his son, Brandon, of Boaz, Mo.; his stepson, David and Ester Myers, of Oldfield; his mother, Doris Ward, of Marshfield; two sisters, Susie and Richard Clark, of Strafford, and Sheila and Ed Hatfield, of Dixon, Calif.; two brothers, Terry, of Marshfield, and Rick, of Seymour; his special aunts, Nola, Stella and Erma Lea, of Ava; and very special friend, Jack Emmett, of Springfield; and a host of family and friends.
Garry’s philosophy in life was, “If you are too busy to go fishing, you are too busy.”
