2-24-13. We can thank God the ice came and went quickly. Good for the soul, but great to have it melt so cabin fever doesn’t set in so well. Bro. “Cub” (Joe) Lafferty began Sunday school with reading Psalms 98. Bro. Ronnie Thomas gave the opening prayer. Our Sunday school lesson came from I Corinthians the 11th chapter. Discussion is given regarding a man’s place, a woman’s and their place before God. Discussion is given on taking communion and different opinions on it as to why some take it and some don’t.
We entered into worship with congregational singing. Bro. “Cub” (Joe) took the sermon from 1st Peter, chapter 3. Peter is giving guidance for husbands and wives. He instructs to be of one mind; compassionate, courteous and loving. This lesson is not only good to follow in a marriage, but in relationship amongst our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Don’t get “even” to those that have persecuted you. Don’t give in to evil temptations for who can harm us if we are followers of Jesus Christ and His goodness. In the 14th verse it states, “But and if ye suffer for righteousness sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled.” Have a good conscience even when you are evil spoken of so those that are doing the wicked speech will be ashamed for their false accusations.
I pray God blesses you all and have a great week.
