Glen Hartley called to inquire about my great grandmother, Lucy Brown Brixey. His mother, Naida (Brown) Hartley, had wondered if my Brown family could be related to her Brown family. The answer was that I did not know. Glen called again to tell me that he had found the child, eight year old “Lucy Brown” in a household with Polly Brown as the head in the 1860 Census in Christian County. This same household in 1850 had Daniel R. Brown as head of the house. He had also found the marriage of Daniel R Brown to Polly Davidson in 1841. Our record has Daniel R married to Mary (Polly) Davidson. Glen did not believe that Daniel was directly related to his Browns, but it made for an interesting conversation about the Hartleys, Garrisons, Allens, and the Brown families in this area.
