The menu for this shortened week is: Monday, December 31—CLOSED. Tuesday, January 1—CLOSED Happy New Year!! Wednesday, January 2–Bone-in chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, pudding. Thursday, January 3—Open face turkey sandwich, broccoli, fruit. Friday, January 4—Chili, crackers, peanut butter sandwich, carrots, fruit.
Congratulations to the pitch tournament winners on December 18—Mabel Everett (227), Billy Fletcher (223) and Sybil Heckendorn (218). Other winners over 200 were Mary Lea Myers, Leon Harris, and Bonnie Coffey. Max Decker just could not get it together and came in last place. Five games were played with four tables.
Speaking of the pitch tournament, because January comes in on the first Tuesday and we will be closed, the Pitch Tournament has been moved to Wednesday, January 2, 2013. A sign-up sheet is in our office, so either call 683-5712 and asked to be put on the list or come in and sign.
Tai Chi exercise classes will begin this week and continue until further notice on Mondays and Fridays at 10:30. Hulda Tipton will lead these classes.
Activities for this week include—OATS bus to Ava on Tuesday. Pitch Tournament on Wednesday at 12:30. OATS bus to Ava on Friday.
During these holidays, there is a lot of stress for some people. There is a high stress diet out and here are the rules for this diet: If you eat something and no one sees you eat it, it has no calories.
If you drink a diet soda with a candy bar, the calories in the candy bar are cancelled out by the diet soda.
When you eat with someone else, calories don’t count if you don’t eat more than they do.
Food used for medicinal purposes NEVER count, such as hot chocolate, salted peanuts and Sara Lee cheesecake.
If you fatten up everyone around you, then you will look thinner.
Movie related foods do not have additional calories because they are part of the entire entertainment package and not part of one’s personal fuel, such as Milk Duds, buttered popcorn, Junior Mints, Red Hots and Tootsie Rolls.
Cookie pieces contain no calories. The process of breaking causes calorie leakage.
Things licked off knives and spoons have no calories if you are in the process of making something, like peanut butter on a knife or frosting on a spoon.
Foods that have the same color have the same number of calories. Examples are spinach and pistachio ice cream and mushrooms and white chocolate.
