It was fifteen degrees here in Peckerwood Hollar this morning, Monday, December 10.
On December 1st Lynn Clayton, Annie Goin and Janice Hawkins made arrangements for a lunch for the the Seniors (Jerry Hawkins’ class). A beautiful lunch at Goodhope General Baptist Church. They decorated the fellowship hall with a Christmas theme with candles and all. The food and fellowship were wonderful.
I visited with Sandy and Jerry Perry last week while shopping in Wal-Mart. I had not seen them for a long time.
Dick and I stopped at Ray and Delpha Roller last week. Ray had pulled us some turnips and even washed them. They gave us some to take to Freeda Richards. We visited a while with her, she isn’t feeling very good.
Attendance at Goodhope General Baptist was 71. Some were absent due to illness, etc.
Lynn Clayton lit the 2nd advent candle, read what they stood for then Misty, Holly, Kimber, Brenda and Debbie sang. Susie Adams also sang a special. Sue Brown played piano in absence of Deann Thompson.
Pastor David Welsh preached an inspiring message. Scriptures were Matthew 5:44-45, Luke 23:36-43 and I Peter 2:24.
A Christmas/Thanksgiving delicious dinner was served after church service.
Visitors this week of Ervin and Lodean Schultz at different times were Violet Lakey and Valerie Guerin, Bob and Linda Myers, Jerry and Janice Hawkins, Rev. Bob and Ella Mae Husky, Rev. David Welsh, Katie Jenkins, Dianne Garrison and Sue Brown. Lodean celebrated her 90th birthday this week. She received 78 cards, several phone calls and several containers of flowers.
Kelly and Deann Thompson, Kailey and Kyle and Kylee Jenkins went to Kansas City, Missouri Saturday. Kailey and Kylee joined Linda and Abigaile Hulsey and Hailey Herrell at the Colby Simpson concert. After dropping the girls off, Kelly, Deann and Kyle was on their way back to their motel when a woman ran her car into the side of Kelly’s pickup, so they were without wheels until they got a rental car. Praise the Lord no one was injured. They made it back home late Sunday evening.
