Well, Christmas is almost here. I got my house decorated and we’ll put up the tree this weekend. We always put up a cedar tree, it’s just not Christmas without that cedar smell in the house. If I get time, I might string some popcorn too.
Let’s all not forget the reason for the season and remember this time is for giving. There are many in our communities who are less fortunate and could use a hand up. I laughed when I caught Cub singing a funny little song about the rich man who would not help his neighbor. When this rich man got to heaven all he got was, “a rusty ole halo and a skinny white cloud, and second hand wings full of patches, a rusty ole halo and skinny white cloud, and a robe so wooly that it scratches….”
Singing night will be at Breedon this Friday, December 14. Bring a covered dish and an instrument if you’ve got one and join us for some great music and fellowship. Then this next Sunday night, December 16 at 6 p.m. will be having a Christmas dinner and we‘ll be singing songs and I think the kids have a little program. Bring a covered dish.
In Sunday School we finally made it to the last chapter of Paul’s letter to the Romans. In this letter Paul recognizes several people who have helped him in the ministry of Jesus Christ, some of whom risked their lives for Paul and the carrying of the gospel message. Paul also cautions the church about those who offend and cause divisions because their interest is not in the church but in themselves.
The Bible Trivia Question I asked last time was “What man out ran a chariot?” The answer is Elijah and that is found in I Kings 18:41-46. Here’s another one, “What is the longest word in the Bible?”
