November 11, 2012, we had a Veteran’s Day Sunday. Mike led the congregation in Patriotic songs. Norman Virtue did the program: he had all the Veterans stand up. Our Veterans are: Stanley Jones, Rick Batten, Norman Virtue, Darrell Price, Ron Putt, Van Renfrow, Alex Alexander, and Martin Bowie. Norman led everyone in the Pledge to the American flag, and he did a reading, “God Is Still On The Throne and Prayer Changes Things”. Bro. Stanley Jones filled in for evening services for Bro. Rick Batten, since his mother had had a very serious car accident. Tammi Housley did a special. Stanley shared a reading with us called, “Cause Everything’s Gonna Be Just Fine,” about a farmer’s prayer. Many on the prayer list and recent additions are: Jerry Lee, Amber Junge, Wade Tooley, Jerry Snow, Ellen Buttram, Joe Moore, Shirley Moore, Donna Strain, Kaye Garrison, Tammi Housley and others who will be traveling, Billy Odom, Julie Spivey, J.C. Spurgeon family, Tom Coats, Jennifer Alexander, all the people losing their jobs, and Rick Batten’s family during the loss of his mother.
Praise items: Bernice Price’s sister and Vicki Thompson have gotten PET scans showing no cancer.
Anniversary: Bernice and Darrell Price.
Birthday: Ryan Bates.
November 18- Wild Game Dinner for Thanksgiving.
Choir did a special with Jimmie Marler doing the special reading. Shelby Moore read cards from: Leah Postlewait’s family, Rick and Helen Batten, and the Lebanon Bible Book Store about the December sales. Carla Bates did a special reading and Sharon Renfrow and Carla did a special song.
We had many visitors today with: Mike and Barbara Tate, Steve and Tabby Raney, Jim and Sharon Marler, Darrell Price, Norman and Phyllis Virtue, Pat and Shelby Moore, and Sharon and Van Renfrow.
Bro. Rick Batten thanked the trustees for the new “great looking” handicap ramp. Sandy Housley had Children’s Church. Bro. Rick’s sermon was from Genesis 3. “I am thankful I don’t have to live in fear like Adam and Eve when they disobeyed God. God is in control, so I don’t have to be afraid.” Many have fears because of traveling, surgeries, health issues, global warming, ice caps melting, crazy people shooting others, people losing their jobs, etc. We should have real comfort in knowing God is in control. He wants us to walk around trusting Him and not to fear. We should all be thankful this Thanksgiving for: food, naps, a restful day, God’s forgiveness, and His comfort in fearful situations.”
Morning service was followed by a great meal and wonderful visiting during the annual wild game dinner.
