Thanksgiving evening we came together at Caney Church to worship and praise the Lord and to study and share the Word.
We began the service by singing. Teenager, Gabe Shipley took charge of the service by taking prayer requests and praise reports. Brol Jim Lafferty led in prayer. Gabe read from Daniel 3. He talked about how the three men of God stood for their faith and how God took care of them and even changed the Kings mind as to who should be worshipped after he ate grass. Gabe is a fine young Christian. We pray he will continue to serve God. It is good to see our youth step out for the Lord. As always we had a good discussion. We read several scriptures and had interesting thoughts. It was a great way to spend the evening before Thankgiving.
Sunday School opened with singing. Bro. Jack Essary welcomed everyone and prayer requests and praise reports were given. Bro. Jim Lafferty led in prayer. Jack read Deuteronomy 4:32-40 for our devotion. After a good discussion in Sunday School Happy Birthday was sung to Denzil Roberts. God bless him. Testimonies were given by Jeff Shipley and Jimmy Lafferty.
Praise and Worship began with congregational singing. Special music was by Melissa Harmon, Mattie Shipley and Missy Cummings. We had a guest speaker this Sunday, Bro. Tom Cummings. He spoke from Ephesians 6:10-13, Matthew 5:13-16, James 1:2 and I Peter 1:3. He spoke how Christ gives power to overcome evil and to let our light shine. Don’t let Satan steal your blessings. We were glad Tom and his family came.
Sunday evening service began with singing. Bro. Jeff took prayer requests. Sis. Lila Roberts led in prayer. We had testimonies from Jack Essary, Jeff Shipley and Melba Austin. Pastor Bill Austin brought the evening message from John 10:7-9, II Peter 3:3-7. He talked about the good, great chief shepherd. How the sheep goes through the door (the door being Christ) for protection. Christ is the protector of the sheep. We are the sheep. We were glad for the good messages we heard today. God bless you this week.
