Thanksgiving week was filled with praise and thanking God for everything around us. We met at the United Methodist Church for the community Thanksgiving services. I think it’s a wonderful way to thank God and to show our thankfulness for our Christian community and brothers and sisters in Christ. Everyone who sang and read scriptures, we appreciated it. We have so many blessings that touch our lives every day. We hope everyone had a special day with family and loved ones.
Our Choir sang the special music in both mornings services this past Sunday. We appreciate everyone who was involved in that ministry. Bro. Oren read the Word from Zech. 7:4-14. He titled his message “Let’s Talk”. How often do we do that in our busy lives today? When was the last time you just “talked” with God. Yes, we can pray but that spiritual connection from just talking and being with God is sometimes lost or our focus is always scattered. I can speak for myself and say that I don’t talk to God like I should. He’s my heavenly father. I definitely will work on that. A relationship should be our attitude of worship and sincerely connecting with our true Heavenly Father. Thank you Jesus for not giving up on any of us!
Please remember all those who are less fortunate than us. We have people homebound or in nursing homes who can’t get to worship services. Pray for them. It can be very discouraging and a depressing time for them, around the holidays especially. Please remember Danny Cutbirth, JoAnn Pond, Max Decker, Lena Pierce, Louann Curry, Doris Elliott and Judy Phillips in prayer. There are so many who have requested prayer. We all probably have several needs of our own and those special to us. Isn’t it wonderful that God knows each need and He hears all of our prayers? We pray He will answer each prayer according to His will and give us the strength to endure whatever that may be.
We have a very busy month ahead. Of course, our choir is still practicing for our Christmas Cantata which will be presented on Sunday Dec. 16th during both morning services. There is still time to join the choir if you want to be involved in that. We welcome you! On Sunday Dec 2nd at 6 p.m., we will have our Holiday dinner, celebrating both Thanksgiving and Christmas with each other. On Dec. 16th our Christmas Cantata will be presented at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 am.. We’ll also have a Nursery Christmas program during the morning services as well. On Sunday night the 16th, we’ll have our Sunday School Christmas program at 6 p.m. followed by our Christmas Play. We invite you all to join us for all our Christmas celebrations. And what would the Christmas season be without our Candlelight Communion on Wednesday Dec 19th at 7 p.m. Our youth will be dismissed on that night so they can participate as well. Our Communion is open to any Christian and we hope you can join us for that. It’s a beautiful service.
Stay strong in the Word this week and we hope to see you in church next Sunday. God bless.
