Leaves are falling everywhere so raking is the order of the day around here.
Getting accustomed to the time change is taking some time. Daylight hours are shorter and very noticeable! A heavy rain shower came Monday and more leaves fell.
For the flaming fall “scenery revue” the Douglas County Herald reported that an estimated 4,500 people visited the Glade Top Trail 50 years ago, in October 1962.
Ernestine Gaddy spent a few days in Springfield with her sister last week as she was having health problems. Best wishes for them to improve.
Sunday dinner at Lilly Ridge Church was enjoyed by several folks after morning services. The drawing for the quilt made and donated by Ted and Ethel DeWeese was held at lunch time. The proceeds benefited the youth program. I understood that Ted was the winner of the quilt at the noon hour in the fellowship hall.
Lilly Ridge is hosting the Ministerial Alliance Thanksgiving service Wednesday night, November 14 and refreshments afterwards.
Sunday evening was business meeting after regular services.
Harry and Loretta Davidson’s grandson, Jason in the Air Force, has spent an assignment in Cleveland, Ohio recently and returned to his base at Andrews AF in Washington D.C. this week.
Mearl and Beulah Satterfield spent some time near Sparta last week. Mearl and Roger fished in “Anglers in Action” on Pomme de Terre lake at Stockton and won a prize with the best fish in a category there.
Manuel and Crystal King, from Springfield, visited his Mom, Stella King, and attended church at Lilly Ridge Sunday.
Friendly Neighbors Club met Thursday, November 1st in the Health Center basement for their monthly meeting. Plans for their December meeting and Christmas baskets were made. Also each meeting canned goods are brought for the county food drive. Nursing home gifts were made by a few members, to go along with Christmas baskets.
Dave and Karen Davis celebrated their 53rd anniversary Monday, November 5th.
Keith and Katrina Davis have their first anniversary next Monday, November 12th.
