I hope you survived our trick or treats. We now get to move on and start thinking about Thanksgiving. There is always so much to be thankful for if we just stop and think about all the wonderful blessings that God gives us each and every day. I know that sometimes life can be a little challenging, but we still have things to be thankful for. God gives us the very air that we breathe, a roof over our head and food to eat.
We had several missing from our church service Sunday and some back that hadn’t been there in a while. I know things come up and it makes it hard to get to church sometimes, but I also know that God wants us to keep Him first in our life.
Larry Hutchinson said that Wanda sure kept him busy getting their barn ready for Evan’s birthday party Saturday night. I hear it was a huge success. They had lots of scary decorations and games that they played. Our granddaughter, Rilee, had her birthday party Saturday also, we had a group all meet at a pizza place and ate and let the kids play games. Rilee and Evan are one day apart in age.
I forgot to mention that my brother, David, had been to the nursing home and took mom to her grandson, Steven’s wedding. I know how much that meant to her. She had been praying for Steven and his girlfriend to get married. God does answer prayers. Roger and I went to see mom Saturday and visited and while we were there in came our cousin, Judy Smith, and her son, Matt, and family. I got to see them a few minutes. I hadn’t seen her in quite a while. We also talked with Bob and Ricky Nelson.
I am supposed to be good and not get Donald in trouble, but now when have I ever been good. He was picking on us women again in church. He ought to know by now how much trouble that gets him into. He was talking about Adam and Eve and the sin that they committed and somehow he always wants to lay all the blame on the woman. He also tried to trick us into a chapter in the Bible that wasn’t really there, but Larry was on to him and told him no such chapter existed. Donald’s point was that we have to be careful that what preachers are preaching is really the word of God. Take your Bible with you to church and read along with the preacher and study the word of God. He will show you what He wants you to learn. I’ts amazing that no matter how many times you read something you can always learn something new from it, if you take time to study and ask God to help you.
Well, that’s all I have for now. I challenge you for the month of November to start a list of all the things that you have that you can be thankful for, and on Thanksgiving Day we will see how big everyone’s list is. Take care.
