Remember back when we were told to put money into savings accounts of some sort and the interest rates at that time were pretty good? We were told we were spending too much money and frivolously. Well, now checking account interest is something like .56%, savings accounts around .75% and CDs not much better, depending on when they were purchased, and they have expiration dates that drop the interest to next to nothing. So, most people are not able to save a penny and many don’t have a penny to save. Our cost of living is going up daily what with fuel, clothing and food costs, not to mention animal feed, and all the while our tax dollars are supporting those who can’t or won’t work for a living…..and every day jobs are going to other nations, supposedly for cheap labor. Our government had several large road and bridge work contracts and they didn’t give them to U.S. companies. No! They gave these contracts worth millions, to China. The government is now printing more money – perhaps to fill that wheelbarrow it will take to buy a loaf of bread. And, where does the Federal Reserve get the money to purchase all those mortgage bonds that they say will improve our economy? From China? From Mexico?
“Some people think that the Federal Reserve Banks are United States Government institutions. They are private monopolies which prey upon the people of these United States for the benefit of themselves and their foreign customers; foreign and domestic speculators and swindlers; and rich and predatory money lenders.” – The Honorable Louis McFadden, Chairman of the House Banking and Currency Committee in the 1930s
Under Ovomitcare (oops! Obamacare) the government will have full access to all financial bank accounts stateside, even savings accounts of children. Something is very, very wrong in this country, in the leadership of this nation……in the greed that persists, in the lack of Christian ethics. Meanwhile, the bulk of the media paint us a picture of recovery and say the great recession is over. I don’t trust the media. I don’t trust the government. And the paranoia continues to grow. Did you know that after the White House told us they saved GM that 79% of GM’s sales in June was of this year were government purchased? Bloomberg reports that “GM is unsustainable without government subsidies and will ultimately go bust again, taking billions of taxpayer dollars down with it.”
A family member and I made a trip to California to see my sister, my son and his family, and some friends. The trip to Sea World was simply too much for my knees so our trip to the San Diego Zoo was cancelled. There were a couple of side trips to see the USS Midway and the USS Iowa. My sister has lost so many pounds in the cancer fight she is a mere shadow of herself but hopefully, they won’t find any more cancer. There was much good visiting and far too much good food, but I only gained 3# according to my scales. The dog Jack escaped for a few days due to the terrible storm but is home again and doesn’t want to leave my side. Bob and Dana Wagner took care of my animals, Kim Fincher took care of the farm needs and everything was as it should be upon my return. God bless good neighbors, family and friends.
Jamey Herd and I had a nice long phone visit. The lightning that struck their utility pole did untold damage to their house wiring, appliances, etc. Jamey continues to be a bit under the weather but promises once the home damages are repaired, her computer back to proper functioning and she feels better, she will put together the Dogwood history for us.
This cool weather is such a change, perhaps we’ll have a cold snowy winter! Until next time, be well, stay warm.
