Wednesday, September 26th – Caney Church came together Wednesday evening to praise the Lord and study God’s word.
Bro. Jeff Shipley took the service taking prayer requests and praise reports. Bro. Hi Lambeth led in prayer. Jeff read Ephesians 4:1-17. Are we trying to walk the Christian life the way we should? Are we using our gifts from Christ to witness? Do we know enough about God’s word to know the truth?
It is good to come together to hear and study God’s word. It truly is a blessing. We wish you could have been with us. We are glad that there is a remnant that loves to come together and dig deeper into the Holy word.
Sunday school opened with congregational singing. Bro. Jack Essary welcomed everyone. He took prayer requests and praise reports. Bro. Jim Lafferty led in prayer. Jack read John 13:31-35 for our devotion.
After Sunday school Happy Anniversary was sung to Rex and Kelli Clemans. God bless them.
Testimonies were given by Jeff Shipley, Lorrinda Coulter, Elsie Combs and Jim Lafferty.
Praise and Worship began with singing. Singing specials music was Melissa Harmon. Pastor Bill Austin spoke this morning from Luke 16:1-13. Are we being good stewards of what God has entrusted to us? Are we digging into God’s word so will know the word to use to witness to others?
Sunday evening Caney met again to praise and worship the Lord. Bro. Jeff Shipley welcomed us to service. He took prayer requests and praise reports. Sis. Janice Lafferty led in prayer. Testimonies were given by Jack Essary, Janice Lafferty and Melba Austin. Bro. Jim Laffety was our speaker of the hour Sunday night. His scripture was Deuteronomy 9:23-25 and 21:18-23.
We are rebellious people. It would be so much better if we’d simply follow God’s law. Discipline can be a hard thing, but if it keeps us on the straight and narrow it is a good thing. Christ is merciful to forgive us when we ask. The old laws are hard and strict. I’m glad for the hope of Christ. It was a good day in the house of the Lord.
