GASCONADE COUNTY – A bridge replacement project on Route W over Second Creek in Gasconade County is complete. The bridge, located northeast of Route K, was opened to traffic today. Work on the new bridge began in August.
The opening of the bridge marks the completion of the Safe & Sound bridge replacement program in the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Central District. In all, 88 bridges in mid-Missouri were replaced under the program.
A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the bridge opening and the completion of the Safe and Sound Program in mid-Missouri will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4 at the bridge site.
MoDOT’s Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program was announced in 2009, with the goal of improving 802 of Missouri’s worst bridges by the end of 2013. The statewide program is on track to be completed one year early.
