Mark Twain National Forest’s Ava/Cassville/Willow Springs Ranger District is temporarily closing the North Fork Day Use Area, near Dora, to remove a deteriorated boat launch.
The project is scheduled to have started Monday, Sept. 17 and be completed by the end of the week Sept. 21. If adverse weather or unforeseen circumstances arise, the project could last until Friday Oct. 5, weekends inclusive.
“The North Fork Day Use Area will be temporarily closed until the project is completed for safety purposes,” said Ava/Cassville/ Willow Springs District Ranger Jenny Farenbaugh. “Use caution when approaching and canoeing past the work site. Equipment will be on the riverbank and not within canoe passage of the river. There will be slight elevations in turbidity during removal activities. However, this will subside after the project is completed.”
Large dump trucks and equipment will also be working in the area.
North Fork Campground and Blue Spring Trail will remain open to the public.
The closest available public North Fork River access is Missouri Department of Conservation-Hebron Crossing. There are commercial outfitter/ guide accesses to the North Fork River.
