With gas prices going through the roof again under the current administration, here are some ways to save: watch your speed. If 55 is the limit, drive it. If 65 is the limit, stay at 60 and let those gas-guzzlers pass you. We’re seniors. We’re expected to drive slow! Keep the pressure up in your tires. Check them at least monthly. Underinflated tires can also be a safety concern. Unload your trunk. An extra hundred pounds can reduce your gas mileage by 2 percent. Don’t carry things on top of your car. And combine errands into one trip because engines run more efficiently when warm.
Eyeglasses cost a lot, seniors, as you very well know. Here are some tips to help care for them. Don’t wipe lenses when they are dry. Any debris could cause scratches. Don’t wipe them with tissue, paper towel or napkin–they’re made out of wood! Don’t use ammonia, bleach, vinegar or window cleaner, all of which can harm coatings. Clean your glasses with warm water and a drop of detergent then dry with a clean, soft cotton cloth, such as a handkerchief. Put your glasses in a hard-shell case, lay your glasses down with lenses up and use both hands to put glasses on and take them off to prevent misalignment. And for Pete’s sake, keep them on your nose, not on your head!

Friday, September 21—Ham, baked sweet potatoes, green beans, roll, pudding.
The activities include, but are not limited to: Monday—Tai Chi exercise class 10:30. Tuesday—Pitch Tournament, line dancing 1:30. Wednesday—OATS bus to Ava. Thursday—Grace Health Care foot clinic (by appointment only), Douglas County Health Department blood pressure 9:30. Friday—Tai Chi exercise class 10:30, OATS bus to Ava.
