Douglas Co. Democrats Will Meet August 21

The Douglas County Democrats will meet Aug. 21 at Krazy Daze restaurant (next to Pizza Hut). The group will eat at 5 p.m. then start the meeting at 5:30. At 6 p.m. the reorganization meeting will be held.

Everyone is urged to come to this meeting as officers will be elected. All committeemen and committeewomen are especially urged to attend; if you would like to become a committee person, or you know someone who would like to serve, ask them to attend.

There are signs to be put up and yard signs are available.

These meetings are always open to any Democrat, but only committee members and officers may vote, plus officers for 2010-12 and present committeemen and committeewomen of the County Central Committee who filed during the filing season earlier this year.

If someone forgot to file during the filing season and has an interest in being a committee person, they may be appointed by the committee. If there is more than one person for the precinct, there will be a vote to determine the committee person.

After the committeemen and committeewomen (elected and appointed) have been sworn into office, the election of officers will be held. Officers elected for 2012-14 will include chair, vice chair, secretary and treasurer. If the chair elected is a man, then the vice chair must be a woman and vice versa; the same for the secretary and treasurer.
