It seemed like the “dog days of summer” with the dry and hot July and August up to the present time. Very little lawn mowing was done, trees were losing their leaves and “dog fennel” grows rampant this month.
A phone conversation with Louise (King) Baker, resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, lasted quite a time Saturday evening as she wanted the article written about her first cousin, Gene King, passing away Friday night in Wichita, Kansas. He was 82 years old. He went to Banner grade school, and Gainesville High School, so perhaps some of his schoolmates will remember him. His grandparents were Aide and Etta King. Gene had two daughters who live in Mountain Home and he had a son, David.
Happy belated August 18th birthday to Dave Davis, and on August 21st Marlyn Pitcock celebrates his birthday at Forsyth.
Mindy Jean Wright had her August 14th birthday in Springfield and was 28 years old. Her daughter, Chloe, was one year old August 6th, (my granddaughters.)
Anniversary wishes are sent to Josh Mayberry’s parents, on their 40th!
Eastern Star Chapter will be meeting again on Monday evening September 10th and all members are encouraged to attend. The evening meal is at 6:30 p.m.
George Szabo’s doctor didn’t advise shoulder surgery in St. Louis. He is seeing a doctor in West Plains presently.
Jeff and Debbie Richey moved their mobile home from Isabella to Countryside Mobile Park and are now living here.
Gas prices have soared this summer according to recent reports.
As time passes quickly Hootin’ An’ Hollarin’ is getting near and quilters are getting busier so they can display their pretty quilts. Our Friendly Neighbors Club talented “quilt person” is Katy Hoverson, and has our quilt to sell. It is a beautiful quilt and is on display in Gainesville.
Though the rain came one night last week in areas it wasn’t enough to raise the creeks and streams a lot.
Pigeon Creek is as low as its been for a lot of years, as Lick Creek is also.
Helen Conardy and I have more therapy treatments in Mountain Home.
Mearl and Beulah Satterfield and I shopped in West Plains Tuesday afternoon.
As news is scarce, maybe there can be more next time.
