Sunday, July 29 was the eighth Sunday after Trinity. Bishop Hartley based his sermon on the gospel for the day. St. Matthew 7:15, “Beware of false prophets…” He began his sermon with a quote from our namesake St. Francis of Assisi: “There was a time when I believed in words.” What we do in our lives is more important then words and we know the difference between false and genuine prophets by their actions just as “a good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit” and it is what is produced that is important. The Bishop closed his sermon with another quote from St. Francis” “Preach the gospel at all times and when necessary use words.”
Sunday afternoon I spent with the Connell Family in Norwood celebrating Lincoln’s seventeenth birthday with ice cream and two of Stephanie’s wonderful cakes. Lincoln received numerous gifts and cards and a very enjoyable time was had by all. Lincoln reported a very good experience last week when he acted as Junior Counselor at the Leadership in Practice Seminar held at the Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, MO., sponsored by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce.
