Hello from our home to your home. We are very thankful for the rain we received, but are praying for more because this terrible heat has evaporated all the moisture although it did cause the lawn grass to green up some. As I walked outside today a good breeze was blowing so I stayed out about ten minutes.
My brother from Californa, Galen Hall, stayed with me at my house last week and that made it a vacation for me to be in my home again for a few days and nights. It made it more of a visit for him to be out there becasue that is where he lived when he was going to high school here in Ava.
My table companion at supper tonight was a friend that I had not seen in so long that I didn’t recognize him, Richard Hadeen, and we got reaquainted. He is going out to visit with his family tomorrow.
One of our new residents, Ruth Shelley, was up to the dining room for supper Saturday. We had several to play Pokeeno Saturday afternoon with several winners they are Angie, Dorothy, Willene and Daryl.
Our Saturday music and worship with Norma Stillings and Tom Hawkins was enjoyed by quite a number of residents at 10:30 in the morning. This is anticipated every Saturday morning and, also, Monday.
Tom does a Bible Study for the residents.
Larry Moore was here for Sunday School and in the afternoon Mt. Tabor Church was here for our service Sunday afternoon. The dining room was packed with residents and, also, visitors.
1st Southern Baptist is the church scheduled for this coming Sunday. On August 5th it is Ava United Methodist Church, August 12th Mound Church, August 19th Ava General Baptist Church and on August 2th Goodhope Nazarene. The residents love this time with different churches.
I have a wonderful group of volunteers who help out with games and activites, they are so very much appreciated. We just enjoyed a good Zumba Class with Gene Crites . The residents really enjoy this music and exercise. Gene always stays and visits with residents. Popsicles are a big hit around our home with the heat being bad, everyone has their flavorite color, not flavor.
We would like to welcome new residents to our home, they are Jan Handley, Dean Davis, Eula Wallace and Joe Newhart.
