Some from the church attended the 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration for Jerry and Pat Nall on Saturday at the Lions Club in Ava.
Items were collected for the backpack program at Plainview School.
Our devotional reading was from Luke 10, the parable of the Good Samaritan.
Many prayer requests were given. Among those were Jr. High Camp, Randy Dalton in camp in West Virginia, our unsaved, our nation, leaders and military and, also, for revival in our church.
Happy anniversary was sung to Paul and Tyla Duckworth and happy birthday was sung to Pat Nall. I don’t know how many of either.
Danny Johnson led us in song and testimonies were given.
Pastor Neal prayed and shared how he was excited about camp this week. He and LeaAnn are directors in our Jr. High Camp. Kevin Hodges, Rhonda Dobbs, Kendra Harris and Ashton Crum are going as counselors. Elane and Rick Crum and Doyle and Frances Humbyrd are helpers and Juanita and Harold Menzies are cooks. Erin Crum, Abby Dobbs and Katie Hodges are campers this week. Van Menzies will be the evangelist. The report was given from Senior Camp with 58 high schoolers enrolled last week.
Pastor Neal read from Luke 17 concerning the second coming of our Lord. As sure as the sun rose and set today, He will come again. Only our Father in Heaven knows when. We are to watch and pray always. Let us not be religious, but Godly. Stan and Kim Humbyrd were with the children in children’s church.
Brad Siler prayed the closing prayer and asked the blessing on our meal. After the fellowship lunch several went to the Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center to have a service there. Several songs were sung and devotion from Psalms was read by Frances Humbyrd followed by a time of fellowship with the people there.
At 6 p.m., we came together for Children’s Church. Stan and Kim Humbyrd, directors of our children’s church demonstrated what goes on with the children so the parents could see and know except for snack time. We were blessed by our little ones. No wonder Jesus said, “Let them come unto me”. Prayer requests were given and Billy Hodges prayed this prayer.
Tuesdays at 7 p.m. is special prayer meeting and each Wednesday at 7 p.m. in June, Frances Humbyrd is teaching on prayer. Last week, we shared what, why, where and when to pray. This week we will read about hindrances to prayers.
