Second Lieutenant Benjamin W. Huffman, United States Army, was commissioned into the service of his country May 12, at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va.
2D LT Huffman was administered the oath of office by his father, Chief Warrant Officer Five Scott W. Huffman, United States Marine Corps (retired). His rank was pinned by his mother, Gail (Hart) Huffman and his sister, Mariah Huffman.
2D LT Huffman was commissioned through the United States Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) four year scholarship program.
He graduated May 13, with a bachelor of arts degree with dual majors in government and history.
He will serve five years on active duty beginning May 31. His first orders are to serve as Cadre with 8th Brigade (ROTC), Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. In September he is to report to the Chemical Corps Basic Officer Leader Course, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Following training, he is to report to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team (BCT), 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas. The 3d BCT is the 1st Armored Division’s only infantry brigade.
Lieutenant Huffman is the grandson of the late Dorsey B. Huffman and Doyne Huffman, Ava; the late John Hart, Ava, and Marsha Brown, Theodosia.
