It has been a beautiful Tuesday here today. I love the cool nights and warm days, but we are getting desperate for rain. I’m sure everyone is praying this week for rain and we know God hears and answers prayers, not always on our time schedule though.
Today my sister Lorene and Don Byrd came over and we went to our sister Ruby’s funeral and burial at Dobbs Cemetery. It is a time of sorrow for all her family. We all had thought she was doing well and then she got worse and it seems like she was gone so quickly. Sis. Freeda Holt preached the funeral and she did a very good job with help from Bro. Robert Hall. Melinda Hall did a beautiful job singing. I will always remember the love her family showed her, her last days here on earth, they were there for her until the end. Hospice only spent one day there, but they were much appreciated, as were the nurses at Ozark Healthcare. We were glad that her sister Goldy was able to be at the funeral also.
I didn’t write last week but we had a very nice Mother’s day service with Pastor Benny Dewitt bringing a good Mother’s day sermon and we all received a potted flower and our Pastor Loretta brought the evening message as usual and we were blessed. The church sang happy birthday to me and a beautiful prayer was given. I want to say happy birthday to Sis. Shirley Fleetwood whose birthday was today and Sis. Evelina Miller whose birthday was last week I believe. Sis. Carol Carson’s birthday was this week also. We had a lovely birthday dinner this past Sunday for May birthday.
I suppose everyone saw the news today. This is the date one year ago of the tornado in Joplin that caused 161 people to die. There has been much done since a year ago toward Joplin’s recovery. President Obama spoke at the Senior graduation last night and spoke words of encouragement to tell them there is hope for their future. Our hope is in Christ. Ecclesiates 3:1 tells us “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.”
I hope Sis. Janel Mitche knows we are so glad to see her back at church this past Sunday. She hadn’t been able to be with us for sometime and was missed by all. Maybe soon she can be back quilting with us. She testified that God had touched her body and gave her healing and we were all thankful. Also our prayers are still with Sis. Betty Hesterlee, who had a rough week after having some trouble after a stint was put in last week, keep her in your prayers.
I want to wish our daughter, Teresa and son-in-law, John a happy anniversary today, 29 years. That’s pretty good in today’s world.
We invite you to Faith Rock if you need a church home or to visit, or a ride if you need one.
Have a safe Memorial weekend.
