Opening prayer was by Joie Welker and our Sunday school lesson was on “The Good Shepherd. Jesus takes care of our needs as a shepherd takes care of his sheep.
We had a special song from the children from Sunday school and also a special by Wanda Casady, Bobbie Miller, Rod and Matt Welker. Many mothers were honored and recognized on Mother’s Day by coming to the front of the church. They had a special drawing and four mothers won gifts, they were; Beverly Tetrick, Carrie Burkdoll, Lacey Beard and Shelley Gallion. It was so good to see so many mothers in church, celebrating a beautiful day in the Lord.
May 6th, friends and family had a surprise 50th wedding anniversary dinner for Beverly and Narvil Tetrick, at Gentry Church. They were really surprised as there was a big crowd to help them celebrate.
Pastor Riley Hall’s morning message was from Romans 13:11-14. Our salvation is here, it’s time for us to wake up and bring souls to Christ. We are to, “Put on the mind of Jesus.”
We are having a prayer meeting, at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening, May 19th.
In our Sunday evening service we had prayer, testimonies and congregational singing. Our special songs were by Harley and Faye Allen, a quartet of Brenda Hampel, Joie, Rod and Wanda Welker and Kevin and Charlotte Reich.
Pastor Hall’s evening message was from Acts, chapter 8. As Phillip was teaching the gospel of Jesus to the people, they gave heed and even the Samaritans received the Word of God. We are to invite people to church and teach people about Jesus.
A special day is coming to Gentry Church, May 20th. We are having a “Friend Day.” There will be no Sunday school and the service will start at 10:30a.m. The singing group, “Bob Hammons and Wildwood,” will be here blessing us with songs and fellowship, with dinner to follow. Also craft lessons and a bounce house for the children. Bring the children and invite friends and neighbors. Bring lawn chairs.
