Last Thursday was a very busy day for some club members. At our meeting, we celebrated Kiwanis Prayer Week. Member and ordained minister, Greg Thompson was our speaker, who was joined by his wife Sherry for this meeting. After a brief talk, he engaged the members in a game of Bible Trivia which was fun. At 2:30, we did our last Terrific Kids presentation for this school year at Ava Elementary. At 4 p.m., Connie, Donna and Glenda helped at the elementary school for a Bike Safety event.
On Friday, at our last event for this school year, President Glenda Little presented our scholarship awards to seniors Emily Sterling and Lori Ray. As soon as we receive the proper documents from the students, checks will be issued to them. Members Denise Reese and Connie Cornelison were in attendance as they both have a senior this year.
Peanut Day is scheduled for May 26. From 8 a.m. until noon, you’ll find our members at the intersection of 5 & 76 collecting donations in exchange for bags of Kiwanis peanuts. Your donations will be used to support projects in the area.
Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook! Rick Baker has been working on our page and has a lot of new pictures and some new information up. Just put Ava Kiwanis in the search box and like our page.
We now have room in our schedule for some programs. If you have an interesting one to present, contact Donna Dixon to schedule a date at 683-1918. For all other questions about our club, call Glenda Little at 844-0408.
