The Red Bank Church service began with Gary Lirley leading the congregation in hymns. Brother Jerry Huff provided the usual morning greeting. Brother Les reminded members that business meeting will be held the first Wednesday of May, and that the youth’s CiA mission meeting is, held every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Also, that the evening service would be dismissed for the Fifth Sunday Singing to be held at the Goodhope General Baptist Church. Everyone was encouraged to attend. For special music, the Children’s Church sang.
For the morning sermon, Brother Les preached from Romans 12 and Matthew 10:25-36. In Romans 12, Paul wrote that we, as God’s Children, should keep our lives clean and present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable unto Him. Paul, in verse 2, further provided God’s Children with this instruction, And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. Brother Les explained Paul’s words like this, “A package may look great on the outside, but what is found on the inside is what really counts.” We all want to look really good to the world, but to be a pleasing sight to our Father in Heaven we need to work on what He will see in our heart, our mind, our soul and in our every day lives. If we do that, we will be more able to do the world some real good.
I haven’t heard anything about the Fifth Sunday Singing yet, but I know that God’s Spirit was felt in every song and in every testimony. Gary and I didn’t get to attend, because I was feeling ill. My ears were stopped up and I had a bad headache. I went to the doctor today and, sure enough, I had a bad sinus problem. I was treated with medicine so hopefully I will be feeling better soon.
It was good to see that Maxine Lirley and Willene Adams were feeling able to attend church at Red Bank this Sunday. They came with Jerry and Jeane Huff.
I still haven’t finished planting my garden. I’ve got several tomato and pepper plants waiting to be placed in their new home. I’ve been waiting for the weather, cold snaps to cease before moving the tender plants to my garden. That’s got to happen this week if possible.
That’s all for now. Take care.
